What if my chosen domain is already taken?
If your domain name is already taken you will have to choose another one or a version of it adding ‘hyphen’ between words or adding words like shop, store, online. We also offer a domain suggestion service. Please contact us for details.
How do I renew my domain name?
If your domain name is due to expire AsOne will send you a reminder by post. If we do not receive payment by the renewal date we may cancel the domain name or transfer ownership to AsOne.
What if I dont want my domain name anymore?
If you no longer require your domain name please let us know and we will not send any renewal reminders.
How much will it cost to transfer my domain?
You can transfer your domain name to AsOne free of charge. Please Note: Your previous ISP may charge you to release the domain name. AsOne does not charge to transfer domain names to or away from its servers. If you wish to transfer your domain name away your account must be cleared of any outstanding invoices before the transfer can take place.
Why should I pay for a domain name when I have seen them for free?
There are many places you can ‘register’ domain names for free. Please read the small print of these offers very carefully. Many will not register the domain name in your name so you will never really own it. Others charge extortionate amounts to transfer the domain name, renew it or even to use it. AsOne only charges for domain renewals every two years and all clients are free to move the domain to another ISP at any time without additional charge.
Hosting
How much does hosting and email cost?
We provide three main packages which suit most business requirements.
Space Lite £60 per year – this includes a holding page on your domain which would usually consist of your company logo and contact details with a link to email you. This package includes one email address.
Space Plus £120 per year – this provides space for non-ecommerce/non-database driven websites with capacity up to 100MB. This account can have up to 10 POP3 emails accounts (10 unique email addresses received on different machines within your company). It also provides detailed website statistics.
Space Pro £160 per year – this provides space for ecommerce or database driven websites with capacity up to 500MB.This account can have up to 30 POP3 emails accounts (30 unique email addresses received on different machines within your company). It also provides detailed website statistics.
What kind of support is included?
With all our hosting accounts you will receive free email support. Phone support is available for those who need support with eMail setup and for those who cannot get online to use our support section on this site. Phone support is offered between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
What is bandwidth and how is it calculated?
Bandwidth is the measurement of how much traffic (visitors) your site receives. The more visitors on your site the more data (pages and images) they view. Your bandwidth is the total amount of data transferred off the server in any one month.
What is a database and do I need one?
Databases (MS Access or mySQL) are used to store large amounts of data. This information can then be searched or displayed in various formats to suit the visitor’s request. A typical example would be a property sales site. When a visitor searches for a detached house with 4 bedrooms the request is sent to the database and the matching properties are then drawn from the database and displayed for the visitor. Typically databases are only used if you have large amounts of data that need to be sorted out “on the fly”.
What is backup and why is it important?
Data Backup is a very important part of web hosting. AsOne keep a backup of all sites we create. If you update your own website manually or via an online administration area you may want more frequent backups.
Can I view my site's statistics? e.g. Visitors
On all new websites which have more than one page, we implement Google Analytics into the site, which collates a wealth of information about your site, such as number of visitors, what site/keywords they found you on, how long they stay, what pages they visit etc. We can arrange to have a PDF emailed to you daily/weekly/monthly, or you can create a free Google Account so you can see the live stats - we can assist you with this.
What is WebMail and how do I access it?
WebMail allows you to view, send and delete eMail online from anywhere. This is especially useful if you are away on business and need to deal with your eMail. WebMail can be accessed from any computer with internet access using a normal internet browser. Use the WebMail login in the footer to access your online eMail.
What is my eMail and how do I use it?
eMail is electronic mail, method of electronically passing messages from one computer user to another, typically over computer networks. In order to use eMail you will need a hosting account and a domain name. Once you have these things we have step-by-step guides to help you set up your email on your computer.
Storage space is the amount of space you are allocated to store information. This is typically made up of html files, images and other web content. If you need further advice on how much space you require please contact AsOne. If you purchase a hosting account with a smaller amount of space you can upgrade at anytime.
What is the free contact page I get with my hosting?
If you haven't got a website yet, no problem. With every new hosting account you can request a holding page that will display your phone number, fax number, eMail address and postal address. If you supply a small amount of 'About Us' text we can add that too FREE OF CHARGE.
Others
I am getting bouncebacks from emails saying "555 syntax error (#5.5.4)"
You are most likely trying to send a message to a large number of recipients at the same time. Our email server has a limit on the number of recipients that can be included in a single message. This is due to a large number of spammers attempting to abuse the system to send mass amounts of junk mail.
Please try to send your message to 10 people at a time to workaround this restriction.
